Robust Recursive Envelope Operators for Fast Retinex

چکیده
The effort to make efficient Retinex engines motivated the research reported in this paper. In most Retinex-type algorithms the computational engine is some (possibly nonlinear) variant of a large support low-pass filter. The presented work relies on the fact that recursive (2D IIR) filtering is an efficient method to implement such large support linear space invariant filters. We propose a generalization of recursive filters to nonliner operators, and their use in the Retinex core.

Design of a Novel Framework to Control Nonlinear Affine Systems Based on Fast Terminal Sliding-Mode Controller
In this paper, a novel approach for finite-time stabilization of uncertain affine systems is proposed. In the proposed approach, a fast terminal sliding mode (FTSM) controller is designed, based on the input-output feedback linearization of the nonlinear system with considering its internal dynamics. One of the main advantages of the proposed approach is that only the outputs and external state...
متن کاملRetinex Poisson Equation: a Model for Color Perception
In 1964 Edwin H. Land formulated the Retinex theory, the first attempt to simulate and explain how the human visual system perceives color. Unfortunately, the Retinex Land-McCann original algorithm is both complex and not fully specified. Indeed, this algorithm computes at each pixel an average of a very large set of paths on the image. For this reason, Retinex has received several interpretati...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal Retinex-like Envelope with Total Variation
Many algorithms for spatial color correction of digital images have been proposed in the past. Some of the most recently developed algorithms use stochastic sampling of the image in order to obtain maximum and minimum envelope functions. The envelopes are in turn used to guide the color adjustment of the entire image. In this paper, we propose to use a variational method instead of the stochast...
متن کاملA unifying retinex model based on non-local differential operators
In this paper, we present a unifying framework for retinex that is able to reproduce many of the existing retinex implementations within a single model. The fundamental assumption, as shared with many retinex models, is that the observed image is a multiplication between the illumination and the true underlying reflectance of the object. Starting from Morel’s 2010 PDE model for retinex, where i...
متن کاملAn L1-based variational model for Retinex theory and its application to medical images
Human visual system (HVS) can perceive constant color under varying illumination conditions while digital images record information of both reflectance (physical color) of objects and illumination. Retinex theory, formulated by Edwin H. Land, aimed to simulate and explain this feature of HVS. However, to recover the reflectance from a given image is in general an ill-posed problem. In this pape...
